Esperance Home

Esperance is an expanding town located on the South Coast of Western Australia with a population of approximately 14,000 people. Although it is famous for it's pristine beaches Esperance also boasts a variety of opportunities for people to participate in the local community. From solo pursuits such as hiking, fishing and surfing, to group activities like football, art and theatre, there are lots of opportunities to engage with Esperance and its surrounds.

Recent trends suggest that Esperance is experiencing a downturn in participation rates, in formal community group settings. This is where Mentally Healthy WA (Esperance) fits in! Mentally Healthy WA offers a huge potential at an individual and community level; individuals will be encouraged to protect and promote their mental health by participating actively in the Esperance community. The Mentally Healthy WA (Esperance) project also aims to compliment already existing activities within the community and work together to promote organisations and their activities to the wider community.

The Mentally Healthy WA campaign aims to improve mental health in six demonstration sites in regional Western Australia. This will be achieved by increasing individual resilience and community cohesion. The campaign is the result of a consortium of Healthway, WA Country Health Services, Lotterywest and the Centre for Behavioural Research in Cancer Control, Curtin University. We also thank our Sponsors and Partners, in particular Pilbara Iron. Entire Contents ©Copyright 2006 Mentally Healthy WA.
