Great Southern

Men’s Resource Centre (Inc)

Men’s Resource Centre (Inc) (MRC) is based in Albany and provides health promotion and referral services to the Lower Great Southern Health District. MRC’s vision is to encourage men and the community to take responsibility for their health and participate in services that can help develop their wellbeing with a holistic approach. MRC is a not-for-profit registered charitable organization focused on raising holistic awareness of men’s and the community’s physical, mental and spiritual issues.
MRC Free Health Check Pitstop is a dynamic and innovative health screening tool designed to raise men’s and the community’s physical and mental health awareness. It is based on a mechanical concept likening parts of the body to an engine. It has been thoroughly evaluated and has proven success rate, and is shown to be effective at improving men’s and the community’s knowledge of health issues and the value of seeing their GPs on a regular basis. The short term benefit is that the participant has face to face consultation which empowers the individual to take responsibility for their mental, physical and spiritual health. The long term benefit is that the participants are encouraged to visit their GP’s on a regular basis so that a history is built up over time and any minor health discrepancy can be dealt with in a speedy manner.
If you would like to host a MRC Free Health Check Pitstop at your business, sporting club, school or regional event in the Great Southern please contact Grant or Tonia on 9841477 or email admin@mensresourcecentre.org.au

Bremer Bay Clicketty Clacks

If you want to have fun and be happy, you need to join the Bremer Bay Clicketty clacks, that meet twice a week in Bremer Bay. This group serves as both a social and a creative outlet. The Clicketty clacks cater for all ages, and all levels of expertise

The Clicketty clacks undertake knitting and crocheting of squares predominantly. These are joined together to make blankets, which are then donated to several charities around the Great Southern as well as a few other charities with in WA. Those charities that cannot benefit from the blankets are not forgotten by this group. The blankets are raffled and the funds are then donated. Gathering times: Tuesdays 09h00-12h00 and Thursdays 13h00- 16h00
